WhichAges — free online history and timeline game

A history game about dates and discoveries

What came first: the egg or the chicken? What about a trip to the Moon, a game console and an invention you use every day? In WhichAges, you move cards to the time when each thing happened. Getting the order right is a start: the closer you get to the actual date, the more points you earn.

A daily challenge to compare with friends

Everyone receives the same daily challenge. After playing, share your result and send a link with the score to beat. The challenge changes at midnight in Brasília, Brazil. Each person plays their own game; a shared challenge is not a live multiplayer room.

Practice a familiar subject — or discover a new one

Mix subjects or choose Universe, Life, People, Events, Buildings and Inventions. Practice games let you choose 3, 5 or 10 rounds. Pop culture minigames use a timeline focused on the period covered by that pack.

From the Big Bang to video games, without installing

Open the game in your phone or computer browser. You do not need to create an account to play. Your album keeps discovered cards and best results in this browser.

Questions before you play

Is WhichAges free?

Yes. You can play the daily challenge, practice and explore minigames for free in your browser.

Is my progress saved?

Progress is stored locally in this browser. Closing and reopening normally keeps your data. Clearing site data, changing devices or using another browser does not transfer your save; there is no account synchronization.

Can I play previous challenges?

Yes. Open “Past challenges” on the home screen and choose a previously published challenge. The game records your best local score for each one.

How do I report an incorrect date?

Use “Wrong date?” on a revealed card or in the album. The link opens a report on GitHub; include a source to help check the information. Some cards accept a date range rather than a single year.
